School Challenge
K-12, Colleges and Universities- UNITE!

The Plunge
Polar Plunge is a wild, zany and fun opportunity for you to support Special Olympics Oregon athletes by getting your friends and classmates to join you in your plunge into an icy Oregon body of water.
The Pledge
Take the pledge to Spread the Word to End the Word. We want YOU to help raise the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word “retard(ed)” and encourage the people around you to pledge to stop using it as an insult, casual or intended.
“I pledge and support the elimination of the derogatory use of the r-word from everyday speech and promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.”
Pledge AND Plunge!
We want your school to take the pledge and make the commitment to remove the R-word from your vocabulary and then take the plunge to fundraise and show your support of Special Olympics Oregon athletes. Grab your friends, engage your fellow students, ignite your school spirit and Pledge and Plunge! It’s fun, and oh yes….we do want you to wear your school colors or wild costumes.
Contests
Make sure to indicate that your team is part of a school when you sign up! We want to know where you come from so we can recognize your incredible efforts.
- Each Polar Plunge will recognize the K-12 school that raises the most money.
- The College/University that raises the most money in Oregon will receive special recognition.
