Epic Civil War Plunge-off headed for Corvallis and Eugene

Beavers lead Ducks by more than $5k in fundraising with 4 days to go!

Next stop for the arctic blast of Polar Plunge: Civil War
Join more than 500 people expected to plunge simultaneously on Feb. 20 in Corvallis and Eugene to raise money for year-round programs that support people with intellectual disabilities.

Find your place to plunge in Eugene and Corvallis and check on fundraising efforts and pledge leaders in your city by hitting the donate button for your plunge of choice.

Individuals and teams from throughout the Willamette Valley–led by business leaders, local celebrities such as former University of Oregon star quarterback, Joey Harrington, and local law enforcement will be doing a little “Freezin’ for a Reason” to benefit Special Olympics Oregon.

The inaugural Civil War plunges are the 3rd and 4th plunges for 2010, with the 5th and final plunge slated for February 26 in Bend. So far, plunges in Portland and Medford have raised more than $170,000 for Special Olympics Oregon programs, training and competitions. You can learn more here.

Unwilling or unable to take the plunge this year?
You can donate to the cause or support a plunger or plunge team of your choice through the “Too Chicken to Plunge” campaign.

Polar Plunge Oregon is made possible by The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). LETR is the largest grassroots fundraising effort for Special Olympics in the world.

Why I plunge -- Emy Stafford: Les Schwab Tire Centers
"I plunge because it's fun! More importantly, I feel proud that I can raise a significant amount of money for a program that is close to my heart by simply enduring a few moment of icy cold torture. Special Olympics Oregon provides a world-class opportunity for Oregon athletes who might not have the chance to compete in activities they love. So really, the question for me is, 'Why wouldn't I plunge?"'
