| Congratulations. You did it! |
Because of you, Polar Plunge Columbia presented by Mattress World and Polar Plunge Deschutes were incredibly successful. THANK YOU!!
In its first year, nearly 630 brave souls took the plunge on Saturday, February 21. Sunny skies and a brisk east wind made for a bright, yet chilly back drop for plungers as they lined up at Broughton Beach on the Columbia River. Polar Plunge Columbia raised more than $95,000 for Special Olympics Oregon!
In its third year, Polar Plunge Deschutes didn’t disappoint! More than 515 Central Oregon citizens took the plunge into the icy Deschutes River on a crisp and clear, but frigid Central Oregon night. Polar Plunge Deschutes brought in nearly $60,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics Oregon!
Don’t forget to check out the photos for each event:

The Polar Plunge is a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) event. LETR is the largest grass roots fundraising effort for Special Olympics. Polar Plunges in Oregon could not have happened without the tremendous support of Law Enforcement from around the state. Law Enforcement made this event happen, and we are so incredibly grateful.
Proceeds from Polar Plunge Columbia and Deschutes will go towards Special Olympics Oregon’s mission: to deliver sports training and athletic competition to thousands of athletes in local communities state-wide during the winter, summer and fall sports seasons.

| Thank You, to our Sponsors! |
The success of the Polar Plunge would not have been possible without the support our sponsors. From Umpqua bank hosting kickoff parties and the Athletic Club of Bend and Blue Sage Café providing food, to Joe’s hosting early check-in and KGW holding a pre-plunge on the river with Drew Carney, our sponsors stepped up in huge ways to make the Plunges of 2009 a total success. We’d like to thank these sponsors for their support of Special Olympics Oregon and the Plunge!
The following companies showed their support in Portland and Bend by supporting both plunges: major sponsor Joe’s Sports, Outdoor and More, supporting sponsor Starbucks, and media sponsor Oregonlive.com.
Mattress World was the presenting sponsor of Polar Plunge Columbia, along with supporting sponsors Metro, The Standard and Portland Winter Hawks. Media sponsors in Portland included KGW News Channel 8, Willamette Week and 101 KUFO.
Supporting sponsors for Polar Plunge Deschutes included the Athletic Club of Bend, Umpqua Bank, North Coast Electric, Bend Metro Parks and Recreation District, The Old Mill District and Hooker Creek. Media sponsors in Bend included The Bulletin, Rock 98.3 and BendBroadband.
Special thanks to Ant Hill Marketing who pitched in with some great PR and Marketing! Thanks to them, you can check us out on Twitter and Facebook.
